Step 3: Eat more fruit!

Eat More Fruit

It’s Monday again and a new week has started. This morning I managed to get out of bed at 5.45 which meant I made the 7.00 o’clock class at my fav Bikram Yoga Studio. www.ducalme.se. It’s just heaven arriving there at 6.30 in the morning and start off the day with some stretching and 15 min of Savasana before the gruelling 26 poses in 40 degrees for 90 minutes start.

Exercise in the morning, especially on  Monday is a great way to boost your self confidence and give your self esteem a kick-start. Love it!

A new week means it’s time for the next step of The Plan. Step 3: EAT MORE FRUIT!

”Fruit is quite possibly the most perfect food in existance. It is unique in that it barely requires any work to be digested. High in enzymes, it effortlessly passes through the body, supplying carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids and cancer-fighting tannins and flavonoids. Beacuse it’s made  up mostly of water, fruit hydrates the body and aids in cleansing, detoxifying and eliminating”

I am realising that this change in diet should have happened a long time ago. This is my 40th year of living, still not getting used to that, and now is the time to start taking care of myself again. For the past year I have tried to get back into shape and back to a better life style but the stresses of life have just got in the way.

Now that we have moved on from many of the heart aches that have haunted us in the past year, it’s time to focus again. The two previous rules have been hard to follow but I am still trying hard, I am faced with difficult decisions every day, several times a day and sometimes I fail. BUT I try to get back on track every time.

The key is too staying away from all things sweet and all dairy. Wish me luck!

New Plan: Step 2 – NO DAIRY!

“We are the only species on the planet that drinks milk as adults. We are also the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species.”

OK, I am not getting in to the whole ”should we even drink milk”-debate.  But I have decided to give it up, at least for a while. I have decided this is the second step on my plan for the new year. I have tried to cut out as much as possible for the past few days but it’s been hard. My main dairy intake has always been the milky coffees that I drink, only a couple of cups per day but milk every time. For the past few days I have started using Soy Milk as an alternative. Before I had my first taste I was terrified it would taste fowl, but it turns out it’s actually ok.

But what do I do about cheese? I had cheese last night and a couple of slices this evening, I just love cheese. But from now on, no more cheese, milk, creme fraiche, cream, dairy ice-cream or regular cream.

So how have I fared with the NO SUGAR-rule?! Well, let’s be honest, over the weekend I’ve had app. 10 sweets and 1 sugar cube in my tea, apart from that it’s been working well. I’ll continue to struggle, onwards and upwards.

This week, step 2 NO SUGAR and NO DAIRY!

New Plan: Step 1 – NO SUGAR!

Sugar is the Devil and soda is the “Liquid Satan”

”When given the proper fuel, our bodies function like perfect machines. We feel energized, healthy, and happy. But when we fill up on crap, our poor bodies have no idea how to process it, and we become lethargic, sick, and depressed. Refined sugars and sodas (even diet sodas) are like crack—nearly impossible to resist once we’re hooked. But they are ruining our bodies and lives.”

I started the new year by continuing to celebrate Christmas. Pyjamas on all day, more chocolates out of the box, fun days skating with my daughter, a panto at Intiman theatre at Odenplan followed by a glass of wine in the evening in front to the TV.  That’s the glory of having two weeks off and not having to return to work one day after New Year’s Eve, but instead taking the rest of the week off.

This means that reality hit me yesterday, Monday 7th Jan was my first day back in work since Dec 20th. It was hard work getting up in the morning and with a client presentation to prepare for I rushed in to work having dropped Pixie off at pre-school. But what really bothered me was how tight my trousers fit. I realise that I indulged a little extra these past few weeks but it seems that I have put on a few pounds as well.

SO this is it, time to set the new plan in motion and sticking to it!

Step 1 – NO SUGAR!

My resolution: Stick to the Plan!

A new year, new ambitions and new goals!

I start out every year with resolutions and plans, plans for a healthier lifestyle with more exercise, plans for acitivties with my family, ski-trips and  summer holidays, plans to be a better mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, endlessly writing lists of things to do.

But frankly it’s the same routine every year, not much changes. I’m still the same person as I was last year, still making these plans for the future and next year I am sure I will sit here again with the same ambitions.

But, as I sit here today in my new home, at my new dining table on my new Tolix chairs with my dear daughter watching a Barbie movie in the next room, I realise that this is the time to decide if I really want to make a difference. So I ask myself, What can I do differently this year to really make this year  count!?

My resolution:  Stick to the Plan!
